The Nintendo Switch And What It Offers

The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid gaming console released in March 2017. It can work as handheld gaming device or a regular gaming console. Nintendo released the Switch Lite on September 2019 as an entirely handheld device. Along with Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch is an eighth-generation gaming console. As of March 2020, Nintendo has sold nearly 60 million units of the regular Switch and the Switch Lite worldwide.

Let’s take a look at some of the features that the Switch offers:

Multiple Gameplay Modes- Nintendo Switch is designed as a flexible gaming console that allows users to choose different modes. When the Switch is inserted into the dock, it uses the TV Mode and users can play the games on television. In Tabletop Mode, the Switch is placed on any flat surface, like a table, using the built-in kickstand. In Handheld Mode, the Nintendo Switch becomes a handheld gaming device.

Docking Station- the dock charges the Switch’s battery as users play their games on the television. It has one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports. When the Switch is docked, users can play games at up to 1080p resolution and 60fps frame rate. However, the actual resolution may vary. As an example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch runs at only 900p resolution and 30fps on TV. The Dock Set includes the docking station, HDMI cable and AC adapter.

Controllers- the controller for the Nintendo Switch is consisted of the Joy-Con L and Joy-Con R. Both are attached to the sides of the Switch using a locking mechanism which can be released using a small button on the rear. Users can combine the detached pair into a regular controller unit, which is useful when playing games on the television. For multiplayer sessions, the Switch can be connected with up to eight Joy-Con units.

Accessories- there are many accessories that improve the gaming experience. Users can use the Joy-Con Wheel to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and other racing games. Nintendo Labo lets children make DIY projects with cardboard to make fishing rods, steering wheels, VR kits and other things, which work with the Nintendo Switch. With Ring Fit Adventure, users can mount a Joy-Con to their leg using a special strap. It comes with a plastic ring called Ring Con. With Ring Fit Adventure, users can do various physical exercises with the Nintendo Switch.
